Try Pind Balluchi Punjabi restaurants in India

If you are Delhi then you have to try out my all time favourite restaurant called the Pind Balluchi. I am regular at this place. If you happen to be a tourist to India, then you are in for a bargain – for about 20 American dollars, a family of 4 can easily have a good meal in a very Indian environment. Other than in and around Delhi; Pind Balluchi restaurants can be found in several places in Punjab (Chandigarh and Amritsar) and Mumbai.

About:

The restaurant is decorated in a typical Punjabi theme. The wait staffs wear the traditional Punjabi attire. Decorations in the restaurant include a bangle wall, Sari fabrics draped over the ceiling and covering light fixtures and cut outs in the wall adorned with traditional Punjabi suit decorations.

Great food, cozy ambiance, pind (village) feel, lovely place, nice atmosphere – this is the way I would describe Pind Balluchi.

Food at the Pind Balluchi

Pind Balluchi offers typical Punjabi cuisine including chicken dishes such as tandoori items including butter chicken, paneer tikka, shorbas, dal and of course rotis (chapattis). Food is served on very large plates called thali’s. The word “thali” means plates.

After dinner, mouth fresheners are brought out with the bill. The one you see in the picture below consists of gur (jiggery) a prepared from whole cane sugar, and a mix of fennel seeds and sugar.
